Pam’s Meat Sauce (Tomato Sauce, Spaghetti Sauce)

After years of tweaking, this is absolutely THE BEST!!! Pam calls it her "Spaghetti Sauce". I call it Pam's Meat Sauce. Whatever you want to call it, it is fantastic. My preference is served on top of homemade or Pepperidge Farms garlic bread. Pam prefers it on Anglehair pasta. It's so good that you will want a bowl of it all by itself.
It is essential to brown the meat, drain the fat, and then add all the other ingredients. If using a tall, narrow stew pot, make sure you use low heat (which is why we simmer for an hour) to prevent the bottom from burning.

  • 5 lbs. ground beef browned and drained of fat
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • 3 cans Hunts tomato sauce large cans
  • 1 can petite diced Hunts tomatoes large can
  • 2 cans Campbell’s tomato soup
  • 1 can tomato paste 6oz cans
  • ½ can water use emptied diced tomato can
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


  • In a large stock pot, brown ground beef and drain fat.
  • Add all the ingredients and simmer for at least 1 hour.


Pam has used various brands of tomato products and found that Hunts and Campbell’s are the best.
Freezes exceptionally well and will stay in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
